BF6 Players Concur: Challenges Are Excessively Difficult

The launch of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 received widespread acclaim, especially for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, live player figures surged to nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, in spite of its success, many players are expressing frustration over several of the title's toughest challenges, which are mandatory to obtain particular firearms.

Players have started resorting to custom matches made via the Portal feature to finish these tasks, highlighting just how grueling these missions have become.

Grasping BF6 Tasks

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, as opposed to the regularly refreshed daily and weekly challenges. There are four classes of assignments, but although many simply offer skins and a few gadgets, finishing the gun missions is the exclusive means of obtaining 12 of the 41 primary weapons present in the game.

Several of these gated guns may soon make their appearance on lists of the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Player Outcry on Reddit

Within Reddit, players are understandably sharing their frustrations about how difficult and grindy several of these challenges are. An individual player pointed out one of the most outrageous examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This mission is so terrible and totally unreasonable, I want to scream in frustration," is a statement that captures just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

The suppression feature in the game is more diminished than before in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many positive effects in fights as it did in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

Additionally, firing an LMG without aiming is wildly inaccurate and functions solely at very short distances, which is seldom the location you aim to be. That player also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that task would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and the other way around.

Another Overly Demanding Mission

Another Reddit user pointed out another ridiculously tough challenge, this time in the long-range weapon type to unlock the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills over 200m with long-range weapons

This is tough enough by itself, but there's another important point to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at that kind of range.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but since there are only nine battlegrounds in the game currently, it restricts you to playing a specific urban map, another expansive area, and perhaps Operation Firestorm at a push if you plan to engage from afar from beyond 200 meters.

The Bypass

However, there is a solution: the custom game tool. The custom game creator is a tool that allows you to create personalized matches on the battleground of your choice, featuring computer-controlled players. This means you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't really seem like the intended gameplay experience.

Yet, if completing the missions in a proper game seems counterproductive, since you have to play in such an unorthodox manner that harms both you and your squad, who can blame someone for finishing these in a custom game so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Upcoming Tweaks

It won't come as a surprise if some of these assignments are made easier in the near future, because should they remain unchanged, some players simply will never acquire the restricted guns.

For now, the audience continues to voice their opinions on these challenging battlefield assignments, anticipating a more balanced gaming experience in subsequent patches.
