Chopper Twirls Out of Control into Palm Trees at Frequented Southern California Coast
A chopper hovering over a crowded southern California coastline unexpectedly began spiraling out of control, ultimately dropping height and smashing into a cluster of palm fronds as spectators looked on.
Recordings posted on social media capture the aircraft commencing to spiral over the shoreline then plunging in the direction of the edge of the beach, where it ends up lodged among palms and a staircase near the shoreline route.
Rescue Operation Information
Emergency responders said five people were transported to a medical facility including two individuals who were in the chopper and were “rescued from the debris” subsequent to the incident on Saturday.
Three people on the road were harmed. Specifics on their wounds were still under review.
The reason for the accident was not yet disclosed.
