The Simpsons Arrives in Psyonix's Hit Game: Unfortunately Not the Vehicle You're Hoping For

We already knew that the iconic animated series was teaming up with Epic Games' battle royale, but that's not the only destination where fans can experience the world of Springfield. The beloved show is coming over to Rocket League, introducing an vehicle customization option that will also be usable in the Fortnite universe. However, whether players will truly desire to equip it is a different matter, as fans have their hearts set on just one Simpsons vehicle everyone is eager to drive, and this new offering isn't that one.

What Fans Really Want

While many gamers would undoubtedly love to face off while driving Homer's custom creation—the famously flawed car Homer built himself in the 1991 episode "the one where he meets Herb"—regrettably, that isn't what players are receiving. Not even getting the Canyonero, the enormous truck showcased in season 10. Instead, players will obtain the family's standard well-worn four-door, which has been in the family since 1989. Though this specific vehicle has seen better days, it stands as an recognizable symbol of the series. For those who pay attention to Rocket League vehicle dimensions, the trusty sedan shares the identical collision model as the Dominus body type.

More Than Just a Car

And it's not the sole cosmetic from the series coming to the game. The event will also include a series of objectives to unlock additional rewards, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a press release, the missions will task participants to "get as many centers and clears as there are The Simpsons years on air, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to the Simpson house, and drive a distance sufficient for acquiring the ideal pastries!"

Although the complete list of earnable items hasn't been disclosed, here is what's been announced so far:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Garbage-themed wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

If the key art is any indication, it seems fans will also receive rims featuring a television displaying The Simpsons' opening credits, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and boost effects inspired by smoldering rubber and Krusty's famous restaurant.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

This event coincides with the extensive Simpsons invasion of Fortnite's island, which brings a completely new playable area of Springfield, as well as a month-long seasonal progression system. This special Rocket League and Simpsons celebration begins on November 1st and ends on November 17th.
